What Is Roof Soft Washing?
Roof soft washing is a low-pressure cleaning method that uses biodegradable biocidal chemistry to kill and remove biological growth from roof surfaces. Pressure is kept at 50–100 PSI — the same as a garden hose — so no mechanical force is applied to tiles or shingles. The chemistry does the cleaning. Water delivers the solution and rinses the surface afterward.
This is fundamentally different from pressure washing, which uses 1,500–3,000 PSI of water force to blast surface contamination off the roof. Pressure washing removes the visible expression of biological growth while leaving the root system intact — which is why results last 60–90 days before staining returns. Soft washing kills the biology. Results last years, not months.
