Mud Dauber Nests on Naples Homes — What You Need to Know
Mud daubers are solitary wasps that construct clay tube nests on sheltered surfaces — soffits, pool cage frames, exterior walls, window frames, and under eave overhangs. In Naples’ warm climate they are active year-round, constructing nests that harden to near-concrete density and bond tightly to painted and aluminum surfaces. Each nest cluster is a separate female’s work and can include dozens of individual tubes.
Mud daubers are non-aggressive — they rarely sting unprovoked — but their nests are unsightly, can clog drainage channels, and leave permanent staining if left to dry and weather into painted surfaces. HOAs in Naples commonly cite homeowners for visible mud dauber nests on soffits and pool cages. Nests must be removed while damp or treated with water to soften before mechanical removal to avoid damaging the surface beneath.
Mud dauber nest removal is most efficient combined with a full exterior wash or soffit cleaning service. We remove all nests and clean the residue staining from all affected surfaces in a single visit.
