Roof soft washing is a low-pressure cleaning method that uses biodegradable biocidal chemistry to kill and remove biological growth from roof surfaces. Pressure is kept at 50–100 PSI — the same as a garden hose — so no mechanical force is applied to tiles or shingles. The chemistry does the cleaning. Water delivers the solution and rinses the surface afterward. This is fundamentally different from pressure washing, which uses 1,500–3,000 PSI of water force to blast surface contamination off the roof. Pressure washing removes the visible expression of biological growth while leaving the root system intact — which is why results last 60–90 days before staining returns. Soft washing kills the biology. Results last years, not months. **The principle:** In soft washing, chemistry cleans. Water delivers and rinses. In pressure washing, water force cleans. Understanding this distinction explains everything about why soft washing produces results that last and pressure washing does not. Why It Matters in Naples ## Why Soft Washing Is Essential for Naples Roofs Naples roofs face a biological growth problem, not a dirt problem. The black streaks, green algae, gray discoloration, and crusty lichen patches on Naples tile and shingle roofs are living organisms — Gloeocapsa Magma, algae, mold, and lichen — that establish root systems below the visible surface. A cleaning method that addresses only the surface leaves the biology intact and produces results that last weeks, not years. Soft washing is the only method capable of reaching below the surface to kill these organisms at root depth. It is also the only cleaning method that does not damage tiles, shingles, or mortar, and the only method approved by roofing manufacturers for warranty-compliant maintenance. In Naples' climate — where biological growth is year-round and aggressive — soft washing is not one option among several. It is the right answer. Roof Types ## Naples Roof Soft Wash by Roofing Material Concrete TileMost common Naples roofing material.
